COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, as winter energy costs climb, Delmarva Power hosts its pop-up Energy Education Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chambers Memorial Fire Hall in Stanton — offering one-on-one guidance on electric bill questions and energy-saving tips.  Delaware Online

CRIME NEWS

  • The Capital School District said at 10:26 a.m. today that all students and staff are safe after bomb threats were received earlier; school operations have resumed, though some bus delays remain — transportation is still adjusting — and Dover Police cleared Dover High and Kent County Secondary ILC.  Bay to Bay News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Attorney General Kathy Jennings announced that Delaware secured an extra $25 million from a 2021 forever chemicals settlement after a similar Ohio case was finalized in late 2025. After fees, $23.75 million will go to a state environmental trust for resource protection.  Bay to Bay News
  • DNREC announced that 992 Delaware hunters applied for 540 spring turkey hunting permits — covering 19 wildlife areas and two refuges for the turkey season from April 11 to May 10. Lottery results will be posted online.  Coast TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Delaware Division of Small Business will open Delaware Grocery Initiative grant applications Feb. 20, offering up to $700,000 to improve healthy food access in underserved areas (a webinar for potential applicants is on Feb. 18 at 12:30 p.m.). All projects must finish by Dec. 31 with submissions due March 20.  Coast TV
  • DNREC is in its third year offering paid summer internships to college students and recent graduates in roles such as environmental finance, engineering, and community engagement. The 12-week program will employ up to 20 interns across state offices with some positions offering hybrid work options.  Bay to Bay News

  • A new report spotlights 12 top Super Bowl performances by players with Delaware ties, featuring key plays from past NFL championships. The list includes feats by Joe Flacco (ex-Blue Hen) and Rich Gannon, which show how local talent has shone in professional football.  Delaware Online
