  • Heritage Shores and Laurie Forster bring The Standup Sommelier performance to Dover on Friday, Feb. 27 with wine tastings, small plates, and audience games. Doors open at 4 p.m. and tickets ($79 per ticket plus gratuity) include a wine flight.  Bay to Bay News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • DE Turf Sports Complex in Frederica received a $4.15M grant from the Sports Tourism Capital Investment Fund to build a climate controlled domed field for year-round tournaments and construction will begin early 2027 to boost the local economy.  Bay to Bay News
  • Demand for skilled trades workers is rising as a Feb. 9 podcast noted growing apprenticeship enrollments amid lagging training funds + insufficient math readiness among candidates. Employers warn that without extra state investment the skills gap may force major projects to rely on out-of-state workers.  Delaware LIVE

EDUCATION NEWS

  • DSU installed three rocks on a flagpole island at the northeast corner of the Claibourne D. Smith Administration Building to symbolize its REACH 2026 Strategic Plan. The rocks (Responsible Growth, Student First, and Accountable Customer Service Experience) represent goals for daily university effort.  Delaware State University
  • Fairview Early Childhood Center (formerly Fairview Elementary School) won the Delaware Department of Education award for Closing the Achievement Gap on Feb. 5. It is one of 15 schools named a 2025 Delaware Recognition School for improving state test scores.  Bay to Bay News

HEALTH NEWS

  • TidalHealth removed its masking rules at hospitals and outpatient centers after a steady decline in influenza A, COVID-19, and RSV cases since Christmas. Visitors may still wear masks if they choose, and staff will advise in clinical situations — a measure to protect vulnerable patients.  Bay to Bay News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Downtown Dover Partnership (DDP) is relaunching its Critical Improvements Program for property owners on and near Loockerman Street. The grant helps upgrade safety and ADA compliance and requires eligible work to finish by certificate of occupancy, with applications due by March 15.  Bay to Bay News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Smyrna High’s boys basketball team recorded an 85-56 win with a 33-point surge in the fourth quarter, marking their third straight victory as they improved to 8-4 in the North & 12-6 overall.  Bay to Bay News
  • Eight Henlopen teams are in the DIAA wrestling state tournaments (allowing makeup matches) after two eight-team brackets were set up today. The tournament starts today at 7 p.m. on home sites and ends Saturday with championship matches at Smyrna High.  Bay to Bay News
