- ➤ Deacon Patrick Stokely was named the new executive director for Catholic Charities by Bishop Koenig on Feb. 12. He will lead programs serving communities across Delaware and the Eastern Shore. WDEL

- ➤ J. Crew Factory is set to open in a 6,000 sqft space (the former Rite Aid) at Pike Creek Shopping Center; the center's occupancy will exceed 80% as additional eateries plan to join later this year. Delaware Online
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Rehoboth Beach Black American Film Fest returns at the Cinema Art Theater from Feb. 20-22 — in partnership with the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice, the event will show eight films and host a filmmaker Q&A to spark community dialogue. Bay to Bay News
- ➤ Miles Beach returns to Dover Motor Speedway Fan Zone during NASCAR All-Star Weekend from May 15 to 17. The free, beach-themed attraction offers live sea lion shows, a shark display, and interactive stingray experiences + food and drink options for visitors. WDEL
- ➤ Charles Garrod, a 92-year-old U.S. Air Force veteran who has lived in Milford for 15 years, donated Korean War memorabilia in 2025 + his name was added to the U.N. Peace Memorial Hall’s Wall of Fame in Busan. Bay to Bay News

- ➤ At Delaware State University, DuPont School started in 1922 as a practice school to prepare Black students for college. It closed in 1952 — its sturdy brick building now houses the Student Health Center. Bay to Bay News

- ➤ Former Delaware House Rep. John Viola, who served Newark and Bear from 1998 to 2020, died Feb. 15. Colleagues remembered him as a dedicated public servant and his daughter called him a trusted friend. Delaware Online
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Delaware Online is accepting free votes for the Week 11 high school athlete, with nominees including Dover indoor track star Devon Craig. The winner will be revealed on Feb. 20 (voting is free). Delaware Online
- ➤ Coach Martin Ingelsby announced Sunday that Nnanna Njoku is no longer on the Blue Hens roster after playing in two games where he scored four points and grabbed three rebounds.
