Good morning, Dover.

The Delaware Department of Education is seeking sponsors and meal sites for its 2026 Summer Food Service Program to provide free meals to low-income children when school is out; eligible groups (government units, camps, and schools) can contact the department for application details and training.

Parents should consider if their children are ready to stay home alone as summer approaches; Delaware law does not set an age, and experts (suggesting ages 11 or 12) advise establishing emergency plans and clear house rules to keep kids safe.

Delaware State Parks saw tree damage from last weekend’s snow, especially at downstate parks (Trap Pond had the most damage), which means some trails and campgrounds now have limited access as crews work to clear debris.

Fee season begins today with updated guidance available on park social media pages.
