ECONOMY NEWS

  • Delmarva Power announced The Exelon Promise initiative today to offer immediate bill relief and strengthen protections for families and small businesses amid rising energy costs, as it pursues long-term reforms to stabilize service costs.  WGMD

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Delaware’s Prescription Opioid Settlement Distribution Commission is launching its 2026 grant cycle to let designated local governments apply for up to $3.25 million from a $200-million settlement to support opioid recovery programs, with formula-based allocations available for ten subdivisions including Dover (supporting community recovery initiatives).  WDEL
  • The DE Division of Small Business and Governor Matt Meyer have launched an online nomination form for Opportunity Zone 2.0 to boost private sector projects in economically distressed communities. A webinar outlining nomination guidelines is scheduled for Monday, Mar. 9 (11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), and approved zones will begin on Jan. 1.  WGMD

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Dover officials approved a revised master plan for DuPont Plaza at a nearly 10-acre lot along Route 13 between Tim Hortons and Citizens Bank. Developers will soon submit site plans for a shopping center featuring a 22,183-sqft Tractor Supply store, additional retail spaces, and a restaurant — a project expected to boost local retail options as new apartments rise nearby.  WDEL

  • The Caravel Buccaneers beat the Milford Buccaneers 65+54 on Tuesday night to move into the second round of the DIAA Boys Basketball State Tournament for the first time since 2023, and they will face No. 5 Middletown at 6:00 p.m. today.  Delaware LIVE
  • Tickets for four official Delaware World Cup watch parties are on sale today at 9 a.m. — events will run from early June until the final on July 19 at venues in Newark, Milton, and Harrington.  Delaware Online
  • Dover High’s top-seeded boys’ basketball team (20-1) will host No. 17 St. Elizabeth today at Narch 5 at 6 p.m. as one of four Henlopen teams still in the state tournament.  Bay to Bay News
