  • United Way of Delaware launched the Delmarva Power Customer Relief Fund (funded by Exelon) to offer up to $500 for electric and gas bills; eligible customers with a balance of at least $250 and moderate income should apply online until funds run out, according to COO Tierra Fair.  Delaware Public Media

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Delaware Electric Cooperative launched the DEC Energy Marketplace online today for members to buy energy-efficient products at discounted prices, including smart thermostats, LED bulbs, and weatherization tools. Members must sign in with their account number and ZIP code to access the deals.  Coast TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Delaware State Fair 2026 in Harrington will feature a concert lineup with headliners like Warren Zeiders and Weird Al Yankovic, and the event runs from July 23 through Aug. 1 with concerts requiring separate tickets from fair admission.  Delaware Online

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Delaware is investing over 8 million to speed up its Early Literacy Plan, supporting 25 districts and charters with 1.9 million in Accelerate and 6.1 million in Bridge to Practice funds. Education officials say the effort will boost teacher training, shared staffing, and data systems to help every child read on grade level.  Coast TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Delmarva Power’s $67.8 million rate increase request will be reviewed under the new prudent spending standards after the company agreed in February to apply the law to its full case. HEALTH NEWS

  • Due to federal funding cuts, Delaware’s Public Health Division will reduce HIV services on April 1 by limiting eligibility to those earning up to 350% of the poverty level. Nearly 200 clients will face limits on benefits + dental care will be reduced.  Delaware Online
  • The Delaware Healthcare Association warns that Senate Bill 1 could cut $413 million from hospitals and risk 4,000 jobs, nearly tripling earlier estimates (a figure that signals a sharp rise from initial projections) and urging lawmakers to seek alternatives that protect services.  Coast TV

  • Delaware’s football season in Conference USA begins with a home game against Liberty on Oct. 2 — followed by weeknight games at Missouri State on Oct. 7, against New Mexico State on Oct. 13 and at Kennesaw State on Oct. 20. The schedule includes four Saturday contests later.  Delaware Online
