  • 22-year-old Maggie Dawson from Lewes drives the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, touring Delaware towns and sparking cheer with local events; the vehicle visited Dover on Feb. 6 during her winter homecoming. Dawson said the job lets her mix travel with reconnecting with her community.  Delaware Online

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Toyota, Ford, GM, Kia, Audi and Volvo have recalled select vehicles for safety defects such as seat issues and software glitches; owner notification letters will be mailed from March 16 to May 5 + local dealerships will perform free repairs. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Dover and nearby areas rose on Monday, Mar. 16 after AAA reported increases; Dover's average reached $3.39 — up a penny overnight and 2 cents for the week.  Delaware Online
  • The Delmarva chicken community released data showing 628 million birds raised, 4.7 billion pounds of poultry produced & $4.6 billion in sales in 2025, underlining its strong role in the local economy.  Bay to Bay News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Governor Matt Meyer signed SB 106 yesterday, so every school district and charter school must now adopt educator-backed cell phone policies during class — with clear guidelines, consequences, exceptions, and posting online by Aug. 31. FINANCE NEWS

  • Greenville attorney Robert Valihura said Delaware homeowners cannot deduct HOA fees because the IRS deems them personal expenses; fees may be deductible for rental properties or home offices. Homeowners should review IRS guidelines before filing their taxes.  Delaware Online
