COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Scouting America and community partners will host a high-energy jamboree at Akridge Scout Reservation on April 25-26 featuring outdoor challenges and history programs that celebrate America’s 250th anniversary; the public may join on Saturday, April 25.  Delaware LIVE
  • Delaware Easter egg hunts for kids are held this week; events take place today at Cape Henlopen State Park in Sussex County and at Auburn Valley State Park in New Castle County, with a 10 a.m. hunt tomorrow at Delaware Agricultural Museum & Village.  Delaware Online

CULTURE NEWS

  • Milton Theatre raised over $150,000 to reach its fundraising goal and secure buying its outdoor Quayside venue (valued at $400,000 but offered at a 60% discount) thanks to matching donations from Dogfish Head and Irish Eyes. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Delaware taxpayers must file their 2025 returns by April 15 for federal and April 30 for state—with an extension available until Oct. 15 if needed. Filing electronically may yield refunds faster, while paper returns can experience delays.  Delaware Online
  • State lawmakers proposed Senate Bill 9 to give DNREC control over tidal and nontidal wetlands (including areas near offshore wind cables) to fill Clean Water Act gaps and streamline permits for development; critics say it cuts county oversight, but Senator Stephanie Hanson said the bill is focused on protection.  Coast TV
  • Gov. Matt Meyer’s interagency collaborative is advancing plans to cut homelessness and end youth homelessness based on a December report with recommendations and will start subcommittee meetings soon, with the full group reconvening around October to review progress on Code Purple shelter plans in New Castle County.  Delaware Public Media

  • USDA issued a public health alert for Walmart’s Great Value dino chicken nuggets made on Feb. 10, 2026 as they may contain lead levels up to five times the safe limit & consumers in Dover are urged to discard or return any found in their freezers since the product is no longer available for purchase.  Delaware Online
