- ➤ Delaware State Police looked into a fatal shooting near Nutter Park and Collins Ave in Seaford on March 12 that left 23 year old Schweitzer Dessin dead and three others with injuries that were not life threatening during a large fight; a second suspect, Jamal Riddick, was arrested on April 15 and is held on a cash bond of 1,340,000 dollars. - ➤ Ten Delaware schools in the Caesar Rodney and Lake Forest districts earned the 2025 Purple Star designation for their strong support of military-connected children and will be recognized today when Governor Matt Meyer signs a proclamation declaring April as the Month of the Military Child—these schools met criteria by assigning military liaisons, offering specialized training, and creating transition programs. - ➤ Nearly 50 healthcare organizations urged Delaware lawmakers to pass Senate Bill 6 (Delaware Pre-Authorization Reform Act) to reduce delays in patient care by requiring insurers to respond faster to pre-authorization requests and to extend approved service periods from 60 to at least 90 days. Lawmakers held a hearing on April 16 (1 p.m. in the Senate Banking, Business, Insurance and Technology Committee) to review the bill’s key provisions. Coast TV
- ➤ Delaware upgraded its 911 system so that callers can stream live video, share photos, and send translated text during emergencies; a demonstration (today) at the Dover Police Department will show state officials the new features, and the system will be fully implemented by 2026. Delaware Online
- ➤ Governor Matt Meyer signed Executive Order #8 yesterday—creating the Delaware Interagency Collaborative to End Homelessness—to bring together experts who will advise on streamlining programs, funding, and resources statewide.
