COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The YMCA of Delaware — the state's largest nonprofit dedicated to youth development — will host the Five Days of Action campaign from April 21 to April 25 to raise awareness against child sexual abuse. The organization will invite community members to sign a pledge and receive a blue pinwheel as a sign of support.  Delaware LIVE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Delaware lawmakers introduced House Bill 123 to strengthen penalties for discharging a gun in residential areas. The bill—sponsored by Rep. Nnamdi Chukwuocha, Rep. Franklin Cooke, and Sen. Darius Brown—would prevent charge stacking and comes after recent Dover shootings in unoccupied homes that left property damaged but no injuries.  WGMD
  • On April 17, the state Senate passed House Bill 140 that lets terminally ill Delawareans with six months or less to live request medication for a peaceful end—supporters say the decision brings relief after years of debate. The bill now goes to Gov. Matt Meyer and will take effect when final regulations are set or on Jan. 1, 2026 if approved.  Delaware Online
  • Delaware’s Attorney General said Milford violated FOIA rules by preventing an intern from speaking during its January public comment period.  Bay to Bay News
  • Dover DMV urges residents to check for a star in the upper right-hand corner of their driver’s license or ID to confirm it is a REAL ID—if you do not see the star, plan to visit a DMV office.  Bay to Bay News
