GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Matt Meyer signed an executive order on Thursday to form the Delaware Interagency Collaborative to End Homelessness—this new body will coordinate state actions to help Delawareans facing housing insecurity. Further measures are expected to strengthen support for those at risk.  Bay to Bay News
  • On Monday, Governor Matt Meyer said the Senate confirmed Eric M. Davis as Superior Court President Judge and Meghann O’Reilly Karasic as Family Court Commissioner for New Castle County—both officials were sworn in immediately.  Coast TV
  • House Bill 140, which would legalize medical aid in dying for mentally capable adults with six months or less to live, passed the state Senate on Thursday by an 11—8 vote and is now headed to Governor Matt Meyer’s desk. The governor has expressed support and said he will sign the bill, which will take effect immediately and make Delaware the 11th state to allow this option.  WBOC
  • The Dover Police Department Communications Center has become one of the first emergency centers with new video streaming and text translation features as part of Delaware’s Enhanced 911 upgrades. The system—funded by a monthly phone surcharge—will help dispatchers quickly assess incidents and guide first responders while statewide upgrades finish by 2026.  First State Update
