- ➤ Last week, DelDOT held its 6th annual Bridge Design Competition at PolyTech High School—drawing a record turnout of over 500 students from 29 schools who competed in math, science, and engineering. Top teams earned scholarship money—fostering interest in future civil engineering and transportation careers. Coast TV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Delaware is mostly out of drought following steady rain that brought normal-to-above amounts, including 12 inches in Wilmington and 14 in Georgetown which eased conditions even though Dover and areas north remain drier. The weather service says rain chances will remain slightly above normal over the next three months. Delaware Online
- ➤ During National Park Week (April 19 to April 27), a survey of 3,004 visitors identified five popular parks in Delaware noted for their trails, watercraft options, historic sites, and recreational activities. The list includes Lums Pond, Trap Pond, Brandywine Creek, Bellevue and Cape Henlopen and offers a guide for locals looking to explore outdoor spaces. Delaware Online
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles is urging residents to update their driver licenses to meet REAL ID rules because a REAL ID will be required for air travel starting May 7th. Delaware began issuing these licenses in 2009 and about 85% of drivers were federally compliant as of March (a gold star on a license means it is already REAL ID compliant). WDEL

- ➤ April is Autism Acceptance Month and groups are helping people learn about autism (a lifelong neurological and developmental condition) and support those on the spectrum. Residents can join local events and wear symbols to show their commitment to a more inclusive community. Delaware Online

- ➤ A survey by Quantrell Volvo asked 3,105 commuters and placed two Delaware routes among the 130 most enjoyable commutes in the United States.
