EDUCATION NEWS

  • A lawsuit filed on April 23 claims that Christina school board member Naveed Baqir, who has lived in Pakistan for over a year and cast votes virtually since January 2024, is not a valid resident—this legal action comes as a Dover bill is set to tighten residency rules for school board members.  Delaware Online

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Delaware Police Officer Standards and Training Commission and the Delaware Police Accreditation Committee partnered with Penn Medicine Princeton House Behavioral Health Program to offer a training titled 'My Brother's Keeper' on April 17 at the Department of Safety and Homeland Security building in Dover. The four-hour session—attended by about 50 officers—focused on recognizing mental health issues and making peer referrals to support a culture of wellness among law enforcement colleagues.  Coast TV
  • Delaware Governor Matt Meyer launched ‘Race to $14M’ — an effort to quickly distribute federal funds to small businesses before December — with Division of Small Business Director CJ Bell during a recent event.   • Delaware State Parks launched a survey on April 25th to get public suggestions for future improvements at Killens Pond State Park, 5025 Killens Pond Road in Felton—officials plan to use responses to shape upcoming park projects.  Bay to Bay News

  • In Dover, the Bayhealth Foundation received a $25,000 grant from the Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation Inc.—the charitable giving partner of Perdue Farms. The grant will help support the foundation's local health programs.  Bay to Bay News
