- ➤ A 22-year-old Dover man was convicted of first-degree murder and additional charges linked to December 2023 shootings—authorities confirmed the verdict. Bay to Bay News
- ➤ Dover Police arrested Gabriel Santiago, a 25-year-old Dover man, on burglary, possession of burglar tools, conspiracy, theft and resisting arrest charges after a victim reported that two strangers entered an apartment on Isabelle Isle Monday afternoon and Santiago was caught fleeing via a second-floor balcony—he is now held at SCI on $9,900 bail while the second suspect remains at large. - ➤ Dover Police investigated a robbery at Governor’s Café on Kings Highway and found a shattered window plus damaged interior doors when they arrived at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13 after a break-in that occurred between 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12 and 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13 (no suspects have been identified). - ➤ The Delaware Department of Elections released unofficial results from Tuesday’s school board elections with incumbents such as Joyce Denman, Vickie Pendleton, James Rau — and Bill Collick winning their races while challengers received lower vote totals ranging from 64 to 3,208 votes. WBOC

- ➤ Thousands of horseshoe crabs are spawning on Delaware Bay beaches during May’s new and full moon high tides, and migratory shorebirds including red knots feed on their eggs to gain energy for their long journey. Residents can watch the event at local spots such as DuPont Nature Center — which offers a live camera feed —, Slaughter Beach, Kitts Hummock, and Pickering Beach as the spectacle continues through early June. - ➤ Delaware’s Senate confirmed Joshua Sanderlin as marijuana commissioner on May 14th. He replaces interim leader Paul Hyland and will use his legal and industry experience to award conditional licenses once FBI fingerprinting delays are resolved—an effort to restart the state’s long-delayed cannabis market. - ➤ Two bipartisan bills have been introduced in the Delaware General Assembly—one would make sexual extortion a Class B felony for cases involving children or vulnerable adults and require schools to add awareness lessons, while the other would let courts quickly grant parents access to the digital accounts of deceased minors.
