GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Matt Meyer presented a proclamation today for National EMS Week (May 19-24) at Kent County EMS in Dover, recognizing the vital work of EMS professionals. He also announced that the Office of EMS received a State EMS Office of the Year award (by NASEMSO) while OEMS and the Delaware State Fire Prevention Commission earned an Honorable Mention for data-driven excellence.  Delaware LIVE
  • Delaware officials launched the Click It or Ticket campaign on May 19 to help reduce traffic deaths by urging drivers and passengers to buckle up ahead of Memorial Day Weekend—local law enforcement will use high-visibility patrols during both day and night.  Delaware LIVE
  • The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control announced that starting May 24, annual and two-year surf fishing permit holders must reserve a spot to drive onto any of the state’s seven drive-on beaches between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays—reservations open Tuesday at 11 a.m. for upcoming weekend dates—and a $4 fee applies per vehicle for access if day-use parking fills up.  Delaware LIVE

HEALTH NEWS

  • Mark Marcantano, regional president of Nemours Children’s Health in Delaware Valley, said nearly half the children they serve rely on Medicaid for critical treatments such as therapy for cerebral palsy. Lawmakers are reviewing budget reconciliation proposals that may change Medicaid funding—potentially affecting the care and support for vulnerable families.  Bay to Bay News
