GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Matt Meyer signed House Bill 140 into law Tuesday that allows terminally ill adults with six months or less to live to choose medical aid in dying if they are mentally capable. The law includes safeguards such as two medical evaluations and a written request, and it will take effect by January 1 (named in honor of advocates Ron Silverio and Heather Block). WBOC
- ➤ Governor Matt Meyer issued a proclamation at a Dover event to honor EMS professionals during National EMS Week. He also named the Delaware Office of Emergency Services as the winner of the State EMS Office of the Year—marking the first time this award was given nationally. Coast TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ At Nemours Children’s Health, about half of the kids get care through Medicaid—which pays for important treatments and therapies. Lawmakers in the U.S. House will soon consider a budget bill that could cut Medicaid funding and affect over 110,000 children in Delaware. Delaware Online
- ➤ On May 14, over 150 participants joined a virtual breast cancer update hosted by Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition where experts discussed screening disparities, genetic testing, and new prevention strategies.
