COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Killens Pond Waterpark in Felton opens its new main pool today for the 2026 season. The 13,242 sqft pool is nearly 48% larger than the previous one and features spray jets, lily pads and a zero-entry area; fees remain unchanged from last season.  Coast TV
  • Killens Pond State Park updated its water park with a new 13,500 sqft pool that is 48% larger and features water sprayers and lily pad floats for both safety and fun – the park will open for weekend use today and hold additional sessions mid-June through mid-August.  Delaware Public Media
  • Brandywine Valley SPCA is halving fees for adult dogs, cats, and offering a free second kitten during Memorial Day weekend — helping homeless pets find homes. The Tour For Life event runs today from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Dover PetSmart, 1390 N. Dupont Highway.  Coast TV

  • Photos taken from May 9 to 21 show local high school sports, graduation ceremonies at Delaware State University and a sold-out garden party celebrating 75 years at Winterthur Museum (Field Fete) that capture our community spirit.  Delaware Online

  • Cathy Kanefsky, president of the Food Bank, discussed rising living costs for local families at Legislative Hall today. The organization said higher expenses are stressing budgets and resource costs while it invests in workforce development + longer-term support.  Bay to Bay News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Action for Delaware's Children held a news conference Friday — announcing a proposal to use $800k for vouchers to aid 50 families with children facing homelessness. The Delaware State Housing Authority would manage the program, which requires families to work or train and pay 30% of income for housing.  WDEL

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • The new larger pool at Killens Pond Waterpark in Felton opens today with improved lifeguard visibility, two spray features, zero-entry and kids areas. The park runs through Labor Day and hosts theme nights on July 10, Aug. 10 and Puppies in the Pool on Sept. 7 (kids under 1 free).  WGMD

SPORTS NEWS

  • Updated DIAA spring sports tournament scores are in for softball, boys lacrosse and girls soccer, and schedules show upcoming quarterfinals and semifinals. Today, softball matchups begin at noon while later rounds in tennis, track and other sports will occur through early June.  Delaware Online
