  • Clearview Meadow Development started a neighborhood watch program amid rising crime rates in Dover with help from Councilman Brian Lewis + the Dover Police Department's community policing section+ officials say more community outreach will follow.  Bay to Bay News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On June 6, 50 middle and high school students will reenact the debates of the Second Continental Congress at Legislative Hall in Dover as part of Delaware 250's commemoration of American independence. The day-long event runs from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. — it will feature talks by noted historians.  Delaware LIVE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Delaware legislators passed House Bill 140 on May 20 and Gov. Meyer signed the law, which gives terminally ill patients with a life expectancy of six months or less the option to choose a death with dignity plus safeguards were added after years of review.  Bay to Bay News
  • Delaware Senate Bill 149 will let low-income housing tax credit properties pay 5% of their annual net income in place of traditional property taxes—counties and school districts may exempt these developments if they opt into the program—Senator Russ Huxtable sponsors the measure to amend Title 9 and Title 14.  Coast TV
  • Today, the Delaware State Housing Authority announced it awarded $5.5 million to 15 downtown revitalization projects in Dover, Laurel, Georgetown, and Wilmington. Governor Matt Meyer said the funds will help build walkable neighborhoods for families and small businesses—ensuring affordable housing is part of the plan.  WGMD
  • Delaware law requires teens to be at least 14 to work and minors aged 14 to 17 must have a work permit that parents and teens can complete online. The rules limit work hours for younger teens—14- and 15-year-olds cannot work before 7 a.m. or after 7 p.m. on school days and may work until 9 p.m. during the summer (June 1 through Labor Day), while older teens face caps on total hours with school.  Delaware Online

  • Goodguys Rod & Custom Association is hosting the Grundy Insurance Mid-Atlantic Nationals presented by R&M Performance at Dover Motor Speedway on Friday May 30 and Saturday May 31 with over 1,500 cars on display, timed autocross races and live music — vendors and family activities will also be part of the show. A kickoff party and cruise will be held today at Bally’s Casino next to the speedway starting at 5:30 p.m. where drivers can register their cars in person.  Delaware Online
  • In Camden, Caesar Rodney lacrosse teams are trying to reach DIAA state finals while Brooks Johnson expressed respect for former Dover High coach Bob Healy who has built Salesianum’s boys' program into a strong contender— fueling local lacrosse hopes.  Bay to Bay News
