- ➤ Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy on May 5th and later announced additional store closures including six Delaware locations — in Rehoboth Beach, Millsboro, Glasgow, Stanton, Laurel, and Selbyville — as part of a nationwide plan to close 361 stores. Delaware Online
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kent County's Levy Court unanimously passed the FY 2026 budget that keeps the property tax rate at 5.72 cents per $100—this new plan will take effect on July 1. Delaware Public Media
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Coastal Companies is issuing a voluntary recall of 17 products with cucumbers grown by Bedner Growers and distributed by Fresh Start Produce Sales in Delaware—these products may be contaminated with Salmonella. No illnesses were reported as of May 27—consumers, restaurants, and retailers are advised to destroy any existing cases and not to serve the products. Delaware Online

- ➤ EA Sports College Football 26 will include the Delaware Blue Hens, as shown in a new trailer before its July 10 release. The team, moving up to the Football Bowl Subdivision and joining Conference-USA, will let players choose to opt into a NIL deal—allowing them to use their name, image and likeness in the game.
