CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 13-year-old student at Milford Central Academy faced several felony charges after a school resource officer found an unloaded handgun on campus Monday, June 2nd (with no ammunition present) following a tip from another student and was released to a parent pending a Kent County Family Court hearing. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lake Forest High School held a graduation ceremony on June 2 when students in the Class of 2025 received their diplomas and the warm evening set a special scene—Canadian wildfire smoke altered the sunset. The event marked a farewell for the graduates. Bay to Bay News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ DNREC is reviewing older Department regulations and will hold public hearings in Lewes on June 24 at 10 a.m., New Castle on June 25 at 10 a.m., and Dover on June 26 at 2 p.m.—comments can be submitted until July 11 to help shape future changes. WGMD
- ➤ Today, the Delaware Department of Corrections announced it is shifting its K9 program from patrol work to focus solely on detecting contraband in state prisons. Five new dogs — Boone, Radar, Ricky, Rico, and Gunner are in a training course lasting 12 weeks to detect drugs, electronics, and banned items. WBOC
- ➤ The Delaware Department of Agriculture is accepting proposals for the 2025 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program that offers $340,000 in federal funds to support projects for fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, nursery crops and floriculture. Eligible local applicants must submit proposals by 4:30 p.m. Eastern on June 24—projects last one to three years and must show measurable benefits. Coast TV
