- ➤ The Brandywine Valley SPCA said the Dover campus took in 79 animals last month—63% were strays and 32% were linked to neglect or safety concerns—and the shelter is now beyond capacity. Staff are working hard and ask Dover residents to foster, adopt or volunteer to help these animals find a loving home. WBOC

- ➤ Delaware State Police said that on June 10 at about 2:21 a.m., a Jeep Cherokee struck a pedestrian on Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway in Dover, leaving a 39-year-old man dead and a 63-year-old driver unharmed—road closed for over three hours for investigation. First State Update

- ➤ Delaware State University has opened its Early Childhood Innovation Center and Early Childhood Laboratory School, offering pre-K education and care for toddlers through kindergarten prep. DSU President Tony Allen said the center—funded with about $15 million through the American Rescue Plan Act—is designed to train educators and serve as a national model. WDEL

- ➤ An amendment to enshrine same-sex marriage in the Delaware Constitution passed the state Senate on June 10 with a vote of 16 to 5 (introduced in April) and now moves to the state House for further review.
