GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ No Kings protests are scheduled for today nationwide to oppose what organizers call authoritarian politics — six events in Delaware are planned in Wilmington, Newark, Dover, Georgetown and Rehoboth Beach. Organizers advise participants to bring essentials like water, face masks and medication while remaining alert to any potential confrontations. Delaware Online
- ➤ State Senator Brian Pettyjohn’s two bills passed the Senate with unanimous votes, one making sexual extortion a class B felony when children or vulnerable adults are harmed and requiring schools to educate on digital risks, while the other lets parents access a deceased minor’s digital assets more quickly. The bills now move to the State House for further consideration — offering new safeguards for families. WGMD
- ➤ Lisa and Martin Hoeber, who run Super Cichlids in Dover, say a new bill in the legislature will ban the sale of dogs and cats and hurt pet stores, jobs and families. They point to similar bans in Illinois and California that forced store closures and urge lawmakers to use balanced rules—like those in Pennsylvania, Missouri and Iowa—to protect animal welfare without harming ethical businesses.
