Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 18th of June.
Good morning, Dover.
🚨 Crime
Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in Magnolia as on June 16th at about 8:00 p.m. a Kawasaki sportbike traveling north on Walnut Shade Road collided with a Toyota Camry turning south at a stop sign, killing a 46-year-old Felton man and leaving the 30-year-old driver uninjured — the roadway was closed for about four hours during investigations.
🏛️ Government
The City of Dover proposed a $243.8 million budget for 2026 that will raise electric bills by 10%—adding about $15.08 per month for an average consumer—and increase water bills by $1.98 and wastewater bills by 76 cents each month.
City Council will vote on the proposal on June 23, and Mayor Robin Christiansen said the increases are needed to cover rising costs and keep essential services running.
Delaware Governor Matt Meyer and Attorney General Kathy Jennings want lawmakers to act on two bills that would raise penalties for impersonating officers — one bill includes penalties for faking federal authority while the other limits when private citizens may detain others; both measures are under review by the General Assembly.
🏥 Health
Saint Francis Hospital has installed the SOMATOM Pro.Pulse CT scanner, the most advanced CT imaging system in Delaware and one of only seven in the nation—its AI-assisted scanning and spectral imaging help produce clearer images and reduce scan time for patients.
