CRIME NEWS

  • Dover Mayor Robin Christiansen and the chief of police called for unity after two shootings occurred in the city last week and said residents must work together to address ongoing violence—urging support for local safety efforts.  Bay to Bay News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Dover City Council debated turning down their annual 4% raises for fiscal year 2026 on June 9+the motion was rescinded after a technicality was inserted into the city charter in 2023.  Bay to Bay News
  • The Delaware House passed a bill to protect consumers in multi-level marketing from misleading practices — the law, sponsored by Rep. Melanie Ross Levin and Sen. Stephanie Hansen, now moves to the Senate for review.  WGMD
  • Delaware lawmakers approved bills to raise highway tolls and DNREC fees, and the measures now head to Governor Matt Meyer’s desk. The fee hikes are expected to boost funding for environmental permits and road maintenance + help cover rising costs.  WDEL
  • A House committee in Dover stalled an altered proposal to raise personal income taxes for Delawareans earning over $150,000 annually — the measure is expected to remain stalled for the rest of the year.  Bay to Bay News
  • Rep. Bryan Shupe introduced a bill to ban Milford from using eminent domain for recreational projects—prompted by last year's property dispute. The measure cleared the House Administration Committee—and if passed will update the city charter by extending official terms and setting tax rules for office candidates.  Coast TV
