  • Delaware State Police arrested 61-year-old Magnolia man Anthony McLeish on his 9th DUI felony offense after he showed signs of impairment and failed field tests during a traffic stop in Dover on Saturday—he fled on foot, resisted arrest by kicking a trooper, suffered minor injuries, and now faces several charges while held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $43,150 cash bond.  WGMD
  • Delaware State Police arrested two Baltimore residents Friday after a high-speed chase of two stolen vehicles began at 5 a.m. on June 20 in Dover and ended near Georgetown with a crash that injured a suspect now in the hospital—troopers also recovered a tool linked to car theft from one vehicle.  Coast TV
  • Dover Police are asking neighbors to share any information on the June 14 fatal shooting that killed 22-year-old Daniel Guzman Jr. on Barrister Place and injured four others+ investigators believe even a small detail could help solve the case; anyone with tips should call 302-736-7141.  WBOC

  • Lawmakers in the Delaware House passed a constitutional amendment to permanently ban the death penalty — the measure now heads to the Senate for further consideration.  Coast TV
  • Delaware lawmakers are considering a $2 million allocation in the state bond bill to install air-conditioning in Building W at Vaughn Correctional Center where 300 inmates face extreme heat during this record-setting heat wave. Rep. Larry Lambert visited the facility on June 23 and said few inmates moved when offered cooler housing units — the proposal will be included in the bond bill now being drafted.  Delaware Online
  • Governor Meyer joined 23 other state leaders in a letter to Congress urging them to support SNAP benefits (a program that fed over 42 million people last year) as proposals may force states to add extra costs (risking cuts to food help for millions).  WGMD

  • Delaware’s 13 state-licensed medical marijuana dispensaries have applied for conversion licenses costing $100,000 to sell recreational products in the future—each must continue serving medical patients with tax-free items and home delivery as required by law.  Delaware Online
