Dover Police arrested 20-year-old Makhai Miller on July 2 for his alleged role in a shootout on Barrister Place that led to the fatal shooting of Daniel Guzman Jr. on June 14—detectives are still gathering evidence to find the person fully responsible while Miller faces charges with a $66,000 bail.

A state audit report released on July 3 found that 62 special education teachers in 14 public school districts worked with expired or invalid licenses, totaling 26,289 days without proper credentials.

The Department of Education will ramp up license renewal alerts and pursue changes under House Bill 97 to close the licensing gaps.

Governor Matt Meyer on Tuesday reflected on his first six months in office as he signed Delaware’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget—making historic investments in public education and other key programs.
