ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Delaware Public Service Commission approved a settlement that raised Chesapeake’s natural gas rates—6% for home heating customers and 6.5% for non-heating users—resulting in monthly increases of about $5.37 and $2.74 respectively. The settlement cut Chesapeake’s original request in half and left fixed charges unchanged, with interim rates set on May 1.  Delaware LIVE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After surveys confirmed the dock is safe and stable, Grove Park Canal Dock reopened today with two boat slips and a launch area for canoes and kayaks to load and unload passengers and supplies for up to 30 minutes—city officials will survey the dock monthly after it was closed earlier this year due to a settling retaining wall.  WGMD
  • DelDOT said toll and fee hikes will take effect on Friday, August 15, raising charges on SR 1, I-95 Newark, and US 301 to add about $107 million per year for road repairs—DMV fees and annual alternative fuel vehicle registration costs will increase on Wednesday, October 1.  WBOC
