GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Thursday, heavy rains caused flooding that forced the Dover Police Department to close key downtown streets. Water Street and Governors Avenue were among the roads closed—officials urged residents to use alternate routes—to avoid delays.  WBOC
  • Before the legislative session ended on July 10th, the General Assembly created an auto insurance task force to review rates and help curb rising costs for residents and businesses. The task force includes lawmakers (General Assembly members) and experts (Department of Insurance officials and industry representatives) who will propose reforms for medical payment structures and adjust systems in response to recent climate impacts, with no set timeline yet.  Delaware Public Media
  • Delaware Developmental Disabilities Council asked Dover residents for feedback on its next five-year state plan to improve services and opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. The council will hold focus groups and public forums in the coming months & urges community members, families and professionals to share their views.  Delaware LIVE
  • Residents from Millsboro and Long Neck attended a meeting at American Legion Post 28 on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to raise concerns about the dangerous intersection at Route 24 and Legion Road; DelDOT engineer Jon Derryberry said recommendations — including better traffic light timing, reduced speeds and a turn lane for westbound traffic — will be considered to improve safety.  Coast TV
