EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Delaware Emergency Management Agency launched the Delaware School Safety Center to expand its Comprehensive School Safety Program and offer training, resources and threat assessment guidance for schools, students and educators—enhancing readiness for emergencies. The center also provides secure case management software and guidance for after-school events to help improve response efforts in schools.  Coast TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Veterans, service organizations and lawmakers met Monday at the Delaware National Guard Maj. Joseph R. Beau Biden III Reserve Center near New Castle to discuss veterans needs and share success stories. Senators and Congresswoman Blunt Rochester, Coons and McBride introduced a new housing bill and said budget talks in mid- to late September will affect VA services — as many VA employees have faced early retirements and layoffs.  WDEL
  • Delaware residents ages 18 and older can register for free fly-fishing lessons offered by DNREC—aimed at teaching beginners essential skills on the water.  Bay to Bay News
  • Delaware's federal delegation hosted its annual Veterans Summit in New Castle on Monday, where officials including Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester and Sen. Chris Coons talked about VA staffing cuts, plans to expand health care, and potential changes to the PACT Act to help veterans—steps aimed at improving support across the state.
