- ➤ Today, the Delaware Division of Small Business began awarding funds under the Delaware Grocery Initiative at the Sussex County Kitchen Incubator in Georgetown—these grants support local groups working to improve access to fresh food in food deserts. Additional check presentations are scheduled for Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. and Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Wilmington. Coast TV
- ➤ Dover lawmakers will convene a special session soon (in Dover) to tackle Delaware's first statewide tax reassessment in over 40 years that has raised property taxes and frustrated residents. They will consider measures like separate tax rates and audits (which may review school district adjustments) to ease the burden on taxpayers. Delaware Online
- ➤ Bills in Delaware start as ideas from residents, state agencies and lawmakers and go to committees—where hearings, votes and public comments happen—before reaching the governor who then signs, vetoes or lets them become law. Delaware Online
- ➤ Delaware's SB 174 will require the Office of Animal Welfare to publish an online registry of animal abuse convicts — the list will include names, aliases, birth dates and photos based on conviction severity while animal shelters will not allow these offenders to adopt, and the bill now awaits Gov.
