ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, August 3rd, a 68-year-old man riding his Harley Davidson was seriously injured when a 22-year-old driving a Ram cargo van entered the intersection at Forrest Avenue and Marsh Creek Lane—Dover police are investigating the crash, and the injured man was taken first to a local hospital before being airlifted for life-threatening treatment. - ➤ The Milford Museum will present a lecture titled Storm Warriors: The U.S. Life-Saving Service in Delaware on Saturday, August 9 at 1:00 p.m. at the Milford Public Library on S.E. Front Street in Milford. The lecture will explore the history of six coastal rescue stations that operated before the Coast Guard was formed — key details of Delaware’s maritime past. - ➤ Four influential Delaware women have been named to the Women’s Hall of Fame after being selected from over 50 nominations for their leadership in public service and community work. - ➤ DNREC is asking volunteers to help clean up 45 coastal sites during the 38th annual Delaware Coastal Cleanup, which will run on Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration is now open for those who want to join the event around Dover. Bay to Bay News

- ➤ Wendell Alfred of AARP Delaware said Social Security—set to turn 90 on Aug. 14—has given vital retirement support to 241,454 Delawareans and helped 56,000 stay above poverty each month. - ➤ The Delaware Division of Public Health announced that special Back-to-School and Sports Physical Days will be held in each county this week to offer physicals needed for school and sports eligibility at a cost of no more than $20 out of pocket. In Kent County the event will be on August 6th from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Riverwalk State Service Center while in Sussex County it will occur on August 7th at the Thurman Adams, Jr. State Service Center where appointments are recommended.
