- ➤ Senators Coons and Blunt Rochester advanced the fiscal year 2026 appropriations bills that allocate over $75M in federal funding for Delaware projects. The packages include more than $6M for local community projects at health centers and radio towers and $70.6M for military construction at Dover Air Force Base—funding that will support local needs as current government funding expires on September 30. - ➤ In southern Delaware, ICE agents increased enforcement in March, leaving abandoned cars along U.S. Route 113 and forcing immigrant families to change their daily routines out of fear of separation. - ➤ At an August 5 meeting, Kent County Levy Court approved a new sign-on bonus to help fill 12 EMS positions that remain vacant since the COVID-19 pandemic — officials noted the bonus offers a $5,000 incentive for new students to cover training costs.
