- ➤ Stacy LaMotta founded Creative Coastal Connections Corp to raise funds for local nonprofits through events like SoDel Fest. The event held last May in Rehoboth featured local chefs and live music and raised $24,000 for the Harry K Foundation and Sussex County Habitat for Humanity — funds that supported housing and food programs in Sussex County. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Dover Police arrested three suspects after a pursuit for a stolen 2018 Hyundai Tucson that began at 6:42 a.m. near North DuPont Highway and River Road ended in Smyrna when a tire deflation device forced the vehicle to strike a home — the 19-year-old driver fled on foot but was caught while two passengers were taken into custody. - ➤ Dover Police are investigating a Friday night shooting near Simon Circle and West North Street where officers received a call at 6:45 p.m. and a 20-year-old man sustained gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body and was taken to Bayhealth Kent Campus (300 block of Simon Circle), while several homes were struck by stray gunfire and no leads have emerged. - ➤ DelDOT announced that I-295 will see lane and ramp closures for its widening project starting Aug. 13 and continuing through Aug. 22. The closures will mainly occur late at night and over weekend days—motorists should plan alternate routes and use caution. Delaware Online
