CRIME NEWS

  • Dover Police arrested 18-year-old Angel Sanabria and a 15-year-old male on August 20th after a traffic stop near Presidents Drive and Bay Road—later, a search warrant executed at a home on Barrister Place recovered five firearms and an officer was injured, though the injury was not caused by the suspects.  WBOC
  • Dover Police arrested two teens—18-year-old Angel Sanabria and a 15-year-old male—after a firearm investigation that began when Sanabria was stopped near Presidents Drive and Bay Road and found with a handgun, leading to a warrant for a Barrister Place search that recovered five weapons, including a duffel bag of multiple firearms, with one officer sustaining an injury and bail set at $24,000 for Sanabria and $36,000 for the juvenile.  WGMD

ECONOMY NEWS

  • City leaders broke ground on the new Harrington Industrial Park on Wednesday—this 130-acre project is part of a 40-year plan expected to create up to 750 jobs and open by spring while helping recover from the recent Harrington Logistics closure. U.S. Senators Chris Coons and Lisa Blunt Rochester and Representative Sarah McBride joined local officials to celebrate the $3.4 million federal grant that finalized the project funding.  WDEL

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Hurricane Erin, a Category 2 storm, and high tides are causing coastal flooding in low-lying areas with warnings in effect through 2 a.m. Aug. 23 — roads may become impassable and structures vulnerable to damage. Residents are advised to avoid floodwaters, secure outdoor items, and have emergency supplies ready as conditions develop.  Delaware Online

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Air Mobility Command Museum — located at 1301 Heritage Road — will host Delaware’s first Department of Veterans Affairs Claims Clinic on Aug. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., where veterans will receive help with benefit claims.  Bay to Bay News
  • Governor Matt Meyer signed House Bill 54 on Monday, making Delaware’s first statewide office for suicide prevention. The new office will coordinate both prevention and postvention efforts across the state—marking a major step toward a stigma-free approach to mental health.  Coast TV
