- ➤ Delaware drivers with alternative fuel vehicles will face new registration fees starting Oct 1, with annual charges ranging from $15 for lighter vehicles to $900 for heavier commercial ones to make up for lost gas tax revenue. The Delaware DMV has started sending postcards and will issue invoices with payments due by Nov 1 (per new state law) as some drivers expressed mixed views about the added cost. WBOC
- ➤ The Office of State Planning Coordination is hosting public workshops this month to review updates to the 2025 State Policies and Spending document and maps—one event is on September 17th at the DelDOT building in Dover and another on September 30th at the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center. - ➤ Delaware’s bipartisan Housing Department Task Force held its first meeting on Wednesday in Dover—bringing together lawmakers, housing advocates, and neighbors to discuss challenges like rising rent and resource coordination. - ➤ Delaware Insurance Commissioner Trinidad Navarro said Wednesday that most commercial health insurance carriers continued covering vaccines including COVID-19 shots despite recent federal changes. Major carriers such as Aetna, Delaware First Health, Highmark and UnitedHealthcare confirmed the coverage and Navarro said the department will work with state partners to keep vaccine access affordable. - ➤ Residents in Delaware worry they may lose access to vaccines, so the Department of Insurance said today that several commercial carriers will keep current vaccine coverage—Insurance Commissioner Trinidad Navarro added that new rules will be set if any changes occur.
