GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Matt Meyer and 17 other state governors have signed a letter urging Congress to extend the Affordable Care Act premium tax credits that help keep health care affordable for over 16,000 Delaware residents. Without the extension, thousands will lose their subsidies and premiums will rise when open enrollment begins in October — a change that could sharply reduce marketplace coverage. WGMD
- ➤ Gov. Matt Meyer signed the Transfer on Death Act into law today — giving Delaware homeowners an option to name a beneficiary who will inherit real estate without probate. The law takes precedence over any conflicting will provisions — simplifying estate transfers for families. Delaware Online
- ➤ Delaware Governor Matt Meyer signed the Freedom to Read Act into law Monday morning; the law requires public and school libraries to use written rules that stop books from being removed just because of partisan or religious views—protecting librarians and ensuring a fair review process. WBOC
