- ➤ Dover teens say there are too few places to hang out locally—and they often must travel far to visit malls or see movies. - ➤ Veterans gathered Friday at Schutte Park in Dover during the annual Stand Down event to access services such as housing, medical care, VA benefits assistance, legal aid, and hot meals provided by more than 100 organizations—Kent County veteran William Downing said the event helped him learn about benefits he had not known were available. The event will return on Sept. 18, 2026 to offer more support to veterans. WBOC

- ➤ Delaware's unemployment rate increased from 4.1% in July to 4.3% in August, with Sussex County rising from 4% to 4.4% and nearly two-thirds of year-over-year job growth coming from the Private Education and Health sectors adding 2,100 jobs while the Retail Trade and Transportation and Utilities sectors added 1,400 jobs and Professional and Business Services lost 600 jobs. The state had 21,900 unemployed compared to 18,700 a year ago—officials noted a national rate of 4.3%. WGMD
