CRIME NEWS

  • Students and staff were evacuated from buildings at the University of Delaware and DSU on Tuesday after safety threats were reported—police investigated a potential threat at UD and a bomb threat at DSU. No injuries were reported and DSU canceled classes while law enforcement coordinated their response.  Coast TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Meyer signed two bills to boost worker protections and safeguard consumers—one law will require most employers to list salary ranges and benefits on job ads beginning two years from today, and the other will ensure massage businesses post a visible license notice to protect public health.  Coast TV
  • Lawmakers and local residents met at Legislative Hall in Dover on Tuesday to review Delaware’s property reassessment process after decades without updates led to steep tax hikes in all three counties. They pressed Tyler Technologies for clear answers on its mass appraisal method—especially regarding agricultural and poultry properties—and will reconvene on October 7 to continue the review.  WBOC
  • Stephan Pierce, a 20-year-old local candidate, promises to tackle Dover's ongoing issues like substance abuse, homelessness, and scarce community services as he launches his mayoral campaign.   • The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control launched an interactive dashboard that helps homeowners and contractors track permit status—covering well, septic, and inspection permits—and it will improve permit processing.  Coast TV
