- ➤ Kelly Firment is named the new President of Bank of America Delaware after Chip Rossi retired earlier this year—she will continue as Small Business and Vehicle Client Services Executive and build community partnerships through her work with local educational institutions. WDEL
- ➤ Raising Cane’s will open a second restaurant in Dover on Oct. 7 at the former Boston Market site at 1151 N. Dupont Highway next to Grotto Pizza, creating over 100 jobs. Opening day events include a ribbon-cutting at 8:45 a.m., prize drawings from 8 to 9 a.m., and a former Philadelphia Eagles star meeting fans from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.—the new restaurant will also feature extended evening hours on select nights. - ➤ The Delaware Symphony Orchestra has named Michelle Di Russo as its new music director after an international search. The orchestra will open its season on October 10th with a concert featuring works by Ortiz, Rachmaninoff, and Tchaikovsky — a program that also includes family and sci-fi concerts later in the season. - ➤ DSU held an oath of office ceremony on Oct. 5 at the Education and Humanities Theatre where new student leaders from the SGA Executive Council, Women’s Senate, Men’s Council, Campus Activities Board, and all class councils were sworn in—leaders such as Na’ja Stokes and Sanai Hawkins were among those inducted—marking the official start of their term. - ➤ Jennifer Mascott, who clerked for Justices Thomas and Kavanaugh, is moving closer to a seat on the Third Circuit today—she is a Maryland resident admitted only to its bar and owns a home near a Delaware beach while her nomination awaits full Senate confirmation. Delaware Online
- ➤ Dover’s Development and Advisory Committee will review three project applications—one for rezoning the Lands of Bayhealth Medical, another for a new Hilton Hotel, and a third for a 7-Eleven store—at its Oct. 8 meeting. Bay to Bay News
- ➤ DNREC today launched an interactive dashboard that lets homeowners and contractors track permit applications for wells and septic systems—providing 24/7 access to over 400,000 historic permit documents and updating users on application status. - ➤ Delaware employers with five or more workers and small nonprofits that do not offer a retirement plan must register for Delaware EARNS by October 15 to avoid penalties—state officials noted that over 70% of nearly 8000 eligible employers have signed up, helping save more than $6 million since July 1.
