- ➤ Delaware State University nursing students showcased their research at the Wilmington VA Medical Center as part of a two-year (grant-funded) initiative that taught them about health disparities and clinical research. - ➤ The Caesar Rodney School District Board voted on October 13 to place an operating referendum on the February 9 ballot with a weather backup on February 18. Leaders say the measure will raise about $6.1 million by increasing property taxes by 9.22 cents per $100 to pay for school needs while some residents worry about the extra cost. WDEL

- ➤ The Department of Insurance’s Medicare Assistance Bureau shared its annual consumer update as Medicare open enrollment started Oct. 15—offering free guidance that saved Delawareans $2.2 million last year. Appointments for phone, virtual and in-person counseling are available from Oct. 20 to Nov. 20 at Dover, Wilmington, and Georgetown offices to help choose or change Medicare and prescription drug plans until Dec. 7. - ➤ Kyrin Timmons of Smyrna was named Delaware Online Football Athlete of the Week for Oct. 9-11 after he forced a fumble that set up the winning touchdown in a 42-34 win over Cape Henlopen—he won an online vote over four nominees—announced by Delaware Orthopaedic Specialists. Delaware Online
- ➤ On Friday, Oct 17, Delaware high school football games ended with several decisive wins as First State Military defeated Early College 47–0 and Indian River beat Woodbridge 35–8.
