GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Delaware drivers should prepare as daylight saving time ends Nov. 2 since the return to standard time means shorter days and extra driving risks—authorities advise using headlights correctly, staying well-rested, and having a winter survival kit ready before Dec. 1. The yearlong initiative, led by the Delaware State Housing Authority in partnership with Lt. Governor Kyle Evans Gay, Self Financial, and NeighborGood Partners, provided 12 months of free rent and utility reporting to help lower-income renters build credit.  WGMD
  • The government shutdown halted SNAP benefits, affecting 117,700 Delaware residents, and groups are urging trick-or-treaters to bring nonperishable food items along with or instead of candy this Halloween — an effort to help families in need. Delaware officials from DHSS will share updates when federal benefits resume.  Delaware Online
