- ➤ The Brandywine Valley SPCA celebrated a milestone by relocating Maisie Belle—a three-legged 5-month-old pup who recovered after losing a leg—to their New Castle center, marking the ASPCA’s 300,000th relocated shelter animal. - ➤ Delaware drivers should prepare as daylight saving time ends Nov. 2 since the return to standard time means shorter days and extra driving risks—authorities advise using headlights correctly, staying well-rested, and having a winter survival kit ready before Dec. 1. - ➤ State leaders announced Tuesday morning that Delaware’s first statewide rent reporting pilot program helped 225 renters boost their credit scores by an average of 9 points — some even reached prime lending tiers and moved closer to home ownership. The yearlong initiative, led by the Delaware State Housing Authority in partnership with Lt. Governor Kyle Evans Gay, Self Financial, and NeighborGood Partners, provided 12 months of free rent and utility reporting to help lower-income renters build credit. WGMD
- ➤ The government shutdown halted SNAP benefits, affecting 117,700 Delaware residents, and groups are urging trick-or-treaters to bring nonperishable food items along with or instead of candy this Halloween — an effort to help families in need.
