COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Veterans Day events will be held on November 11 at various posts, including ceremonies and open houses in Rehoboth Beach, Ocean City, Dover and New Castle—each planned to honor local veterans with keynotes and dedications such as retired Air Force Lt. General William Welser III speaking in Dover and the Wall of Remembrance being dedicated in New Castle.  WGMD

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Delaware School Choice Enrollment for the 2026/2027 school year is open, accepting applications from November 3rd until January 14th. Families will be notified by February 27th and must choose one school if multiple acceptances are received by March 20th.  WBOC

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ann Helbe, a retired nurse and board member of the Epilepsy Foundation of Delaware, explained that November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month when the foundation offers support and education for people with epilepsy. The organization provides resources on seizure types and treatment options—helping families and caregivers better manage the condition.  Bay to Bay News
  • Dr. C.D. Casscells of the Caesar Rodney Institute said that even with the ongoing federal shutdown and debate over temporary Affordable Care Act subsidies, most Delawareans with Medicare, Medicaid, or employer insurance will not see a rise in their premiums—only a small group of ACA enrollees may face higher costs if subsidies expire.  Bay to Bay News

  • NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley surprised customers at Harry’s Savoy Grill in Brandywine Hundred on Monday night by snapping photos with staff and noting that the Sixers’ success depends on Joel Embiid’s health — he also shared his local tie by saying he named his daughter after the Christiana Mall.
