  • A Delaware resident crossed the state line to purchase a Kings and Queens scratch-off ticket and became the first to claim a $100K top prize when she claimed her reward on Nov. 17; the winning ticket was bought at Lion Xpress — 1252 Jacob Tome Highway in Port Deposit and comes at a key time for her family as she had won smaller prizes before.  Delaware Online
  • Small Business Saturday returns Nov. 29 to support Delaware's small merchants during the holiday season—founded by American Express in 2010, the event will boost local shopping and offer special promotions to residents.   • The Possum Point Players community theater group will present 'The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!' on Dec. 5, 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14 at Possum Hall, 441 Old Laurel Road—Georgetown. The production will offer a festive experience as part of the holiday season.  Bay to Bay News
  • Country artist Zach Bryan will headline a two-night music festival at The Woodlands at Dover Motor Speedway on Sept. 18-19 for 2026 (With Heaven on Tour) with Kings of Leon on Sept. 18 and Alabama Shakes on Sept. 19, joined by Fey Fili and Gabriella Rose. Local residents in zip codes 19901, 19902, and 19904 will have special pre-sale access starting Dec. 4 while NASCAR All-Star Race ticket buyers will receive email pre-sale access.  WDEL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • DSU faculty member Dr. Polly Steenhagen was inducted into the Delaware Aviation Hall of Fame on November 15, honoring her decades of teaching and mentoring that opened doors in aviation (including for women).  Delaware State University

FINANCE NEWS

  • A 51-year-old Dover woman working in promotions supervision claimed a $1 million Powerball prize after her quick pick ticket bought at Harrington Raceway and Casino won in the Oct. 22 drawing—she claimed her ticket at the Delaware Lottery Headquarters on Oct. 30, marking Delaware’s second $1M win since April 7. This win comes after she began playing for fun only six weeks ago.  Delaware Online

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • DelDOT announced that planned sidewalk improvements will impose daytime lane restrictions on Webbs Lane—between Alder Road and South Governors Avenue—to ease traffic in Dover. The changes will take effect soon and aim to enhance safety for pedestrians and drivers.  Bay to Bay News

HEALTH NEWS

  • The First State Health Leaders Alliance urged Delawareans to get vaccinated against flu, COVID-19, and RSV and take extra measures like handwashing and staying home when sick as winter approaches — they will also launch the #healthyholidaysDE campaign to share resources throughout the season.  Coast TV
  • Child health advocates asked Gov. Meyer for $15 million to fund lead remediation—if the money is added to the budget, it will go into an existing state fund.  Delaware Public Media

  • DeSean Jackson has taken the head coach job at Delaware State after a long NFL career as a receiver. He said he believed in himself to beat size doubts — and he plans to bring that same spirit to his players.  Bay to Bay News
