- ➤ Tim Hortons, a Canadian coffee, doughnut and sandwich chain with 6,000+ locations, will open its only Delaware restaurant in Dover this December at 737 N. Dupont Highway on Route 13 north—close to Dover Mall, Delaware State University and Dover Motor Speedway. The franchise owner said this location is the first of a planned 10 in Delaware, with additional sites set for Newark and Bear. Delaware Online
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Laurel guidance secretary Donna Ward was named Delaware Educational Support Professional of the Year at a Dover banquet Monday night. She has worked at Laurel for 30 years and will receive $2,000 plus an extra $2,000 and $5,000 for student benefits. WDEL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Delaware does not require drivers to remove snow or ice from their cars because a proposed bill that would have fined drivers was not signed into law. The Department of Transportation advises drivers to clear their cars today—especially those heading to neighboring states—to keep roads safe. Delaware Online
- ➤ Delaware's business leaders will testify today at Legislative Hall during a General Assembly hearing on the property reassessment that led to new tax bills in New Castle County — the hearing starts at 9:30 a.m. and another session will be held on December 9 to review school district funding and legislative changes — following recent court decisions and a pause for litigation. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Health care providers in Delaware say that flu season is coming as temperatures drop—urging residents to get vaccinated and wash hands often. Family physician John Fink from Bayhealth warned that some new strains are not in this year's vaccine and advised people to call their doctor for mild symptoms to keep emergency rooms open for serious cases. - ➤ Earlier this year, Oracle Health allowed unauthorized access to ChristianaCare patient data—names, Social Security numbers, and details from medical records may have been exposed. ChristianaCare said its IT systems stayed secure and clinical operations were not disrupted while affected patients will get letters offering free credit monitoring services. Delaware Public Media

- ➤ After beating UTEP, the University of Delaware secured one of 82 bowl slots by reaching six wins — but the bowl game and location remain unconfirmed as selections will follow the upcoming conference championships. Deposits are already being accepted from donors, season ticket holders, and UD alumni. WDEL
- ➤ Delaware coaches selected top high school football players in all three classes on Monday. All first team members will be honored at the DIFCA banquet in Dover on Monday, January 26—where the Coaches of the Year will also be recognized. WDEL
