COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Neighbors on East Lookerman Street proposed closing the neighborhood entrance to slow dangerous speeding, though city officials rejected the plan & will add new signage and striping instead. The Dover Safety Committee will review the proposal on Tuesday, Dec. 9 with a council vote expected later.  WBOC
  • Residents in Headwater Cove have collected donations to support local food pantries, Toys for Tots, & the SPCA since June and will soon begin collecting essential hygiene products for local women this holiday season.  Coast TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • A Pearl Harbor remembrance ceremony will be held at Lake Como Memorial in Smyrna at 7 a.m. on Dec.7. Community members are invited to honor those lost during the historic event.  Bay to Bay News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Delmarva Power completed critical upgrades to strengthen its grid for winter months. The work—covering system enhancements, tree trimming and smart switch installations—aims to reduce outages and support energy-saving measures for customers.  Coast TV

  • A planned ordinance on pedestrian safety is pending before City Council to reduce road hazards without limiting free speech, and panhandlers can access services at Forrest Avenue and Saulsbury Road (Hopes & Dreams Peer Support & Resource Center).  Bay to Bay News
  • Superior Court Judge Mark Conner paused US Wind's appeal following state lawmakers' passage of a bill to permit a substation near Dagsboro; the offshore wind project still faces hurdles, including federal challenges.  Delaware Public Media
  • Delaware State Park officials announced updated entry fees effective March 1, 2026 to support park maintenance amid rising visitors. Daily fees, annual passes and a lifetime pass for seniors will increase — inland parks will charge $5 for Delaware vehicles and beach parks $10 for local cars.  Delaware LIVE

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Delaware Prescription Opioid Settlement Distribution Commission will set protocols on Dec. 15 for disbursing opioid funds, with Kent County set to receive an estimated $500,000 next year. The decision will guide future local funding allocations.  Bay to Bay News
