- ➤ Delaware Day marks the anniversary of the state’s ratification of the U.S. Constitution when 30 delegates met at Battell’s Tavern in Dover on Dec. 7, 1787, and local groups continue to honor that legacy with civic events. Bay to Bay News
- ➤ BVSPCA will host its December Mega Adoption Event on Dec. 13 and 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at campuses including Dover where cats, dogs, puppies and kittens are available for adoption at a $35 fee that covers microchip, spay/neuter services + vaccinations. Coast TV

- ➤ No grand prize winner emerged on Wednesday, Dec. 3 — Delaware ticket sales closed at 9:45 p.m. for the Saturday drawing that reached $820 million. The drawing became the eighth largest Powerball jackpot, raising local hopes for a win. Delaware Online

- ➤ A nationwide poll finds Delawareans choosing A Christmas Story as their top favorite film with 16.21% of votes, followed by Home Alone with 11.23% + The Nightmare Before Christmas in third place; the survey polled 1,986 people as holiday movie marathons begin. Delaware Online

- ➤ Students from the College of Agriculture, Science, and Technology presented their research at the University’s Board of Trustees retreat held in the new Agilent Hub Building on Dec. 4-5 — CAST Dean Cherese Winstead Casson also provided an update on current partnerships. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Delaware State Parks will start selling 2026 park passes and surf fishing permits on Dec. 9 (via online purchases or park offices) with daily park fees beginning on Mar. 1 and new rates for in-state and out-of-state vehicles, plus discounts for seniors and military members. WGMD
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Blue Hens will play in the 68 Ventures Bowl on Dec. 17 at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Ala where they will face the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (Sun Belt Conference); ticket prices start at $19 and ESPN will televise the game. Delaware Online
- ➤ Delaware State coach Stan Waterman said his team’s overtime win against the Blue Hens on Dec. 6 gave the Hornets a spark to overcome a rough start. They look to build momentum in upcoming games. Delaware Online
