- ➤ At Georgetown + Dover, over 140 pets were adopted at the BVSPCA mega adoption event last weekend. Today, the agency announced that from today until Jan. 2, all large adult dogs will have sponsored adoption fees. WBOC
- ➤ Perdue's Operation Teddy Bear makes its 40th holiday run at Holly Center, continuing a tradition that began in 1976. The event honors community spirit with a nod to Red Sovine's classic tune (Teddy Bear). Bay to Bay News
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County opened its upgraded Opportunity Hub at East Lea Boulevard, offering job-seekers interview options, broadband access, and career guidance. The $1.1 million project received congressional funding and local support (including United Way and the Workforce Opportunity Board) to help connect Delawareans with better careers. WDEL
- ➤ The Delaware Economic Financial Advisory Council met Monday and estimated that state revenue for the fiscal year beginning July 1 will be about $365 million higher than earlier forecasts; this figure will guide the governor’s operating and capital budgets in January with four more estimates set for release through June. - ➤ AAA reports record holiday travel as 356,000 Delaware residents are expected to travel starting Dec. 20 due to extra days off. Drivers are advised to drive safely & prepare for heavy road and airport traffic, with local gas prices lower than in recent years. Delaware Online

- ➤ Educators from Delaware’s three counties testified on Dec. 15 at Dover’s final General Assembly Special Committee on Reassessment meeting + they stressed that fixing the equalization process is imperative for fair property assessments. Bay to Bay News

- ➤ Delaware increased community funding for cleanup as House Bill 210 directs 40% of penalty funds to projects near polluters (including a $23,850 grant for air quality sensors in Delaware City). Ten projects are approved for 2026 to boost local environmental monitoring. Delaware Online

- ➤ Last week, local high school basketball teams showcased strong performances as Odessa remained unbeaten with three wins and Sanford posted two victories while Cape Henlopen defeated Smyrna and Sussex Central. - ➤ The Blue Hens will compete in the 68 Ventures Bowl in Mobile tomorrow night against Louisiana, marking Delaware's first bowl game since the 1971 Boardwalk Bowl; fans will enjoy pregame tailgates at Hancock Whitney Stadium and other local festivities (including a pep rally) ahead of kickoff at 7:30 p.m. WDEL
